Wanna Tattoo?
The fascinating world of body art, namely “tattoos” has always intrigued me. I’ve often been tempted to walk right into the tattoo parlor and just get one. Hmm.. but out of respect for my folks, i shall show restraint till maybe one day when the time’s right, then I shall get one.
This tattoo symbolizes a Korean god and protector.
It’s on the back of my friend Jeff!!!
You see, the problem with tattoos is that they have been given a very bad reputation throughout the years. It’s often associated to the “dark side” and about being “bad”. The truth is, times have changed and it’s not like that anymore.
Undeniably, tattoos were once used by the Nazi’s to brand their victims [in Auschwitz, 'oww-shh-vitz'], drug pushers and notorious gangs to identify each other and worse, identify as Satan worship. However, gone were the days where tattoos serve that purpose anymore. At this point in time, tattoos has or is being shifted into a whole new category of BODY ART.
Tattoos these days have evolved so much that it has become another form of art. The intricate designs and detail put into the tattoo is so amazing that sometimes it makes you wonder how did the artist do it? Watching shows like Miami Ink and LA Ink is enough proof of how much work it needs to create a tatoo. There was an episode on Miami Ink where a guy wanted a Japanese Bonzai garden on his back. It took 3 of their artist to come up with the drawings and color scheme. All HAND DRAWN! and then they have to place that design on his back while tracing and coloring it FREE HAND! So, just imagine the amount of skill needed to do that! Why, I can’t even hold a color pencil properly!
Anyway, many tattoos are also a form of self expressionism. Sometimes they show their emotions through tattoos. Many have gotten them because a loved one has passed away or even if they had gotten married! Some even tattoo the Christian cross to show devotion to God! Honestly, tattoos are far from evil and bad. They are just another form of art but only the human body seems to be the canvas!
Love it or hate it, it’s entirely up to you!
