Boots Basics

Gone were the days when boots were only worn to keep warm in the winter, or if you were a cowboy. Boots now have an almost magical ability to instantly revamp an outfit. Like almost every other fashion accessory, boots come in various shapes, sizes and types. I myself own a pair of boots, which I got as a birthday gift 3 or 4 years ago. Unfortunately, I’ve never worn it. Simply because I had no idea what to wear it with. I stumbled upon it recently and decided that I shall do a little fashion research about it so it won’t collect even more dust in my closet. I did, and it really enlightened me. So, here I am to share some basic need-to-knows about boots.
1. Ankle Boots
Looks best with slim cut jeans or tights. Try to avoid wearing them with skirts as they might make your legs look chunky. If you’re blessed with long legs, then go right ahead. Oh, and no socks preferably.

2. Knee-high Boots
Goes well with short skirts, but could be a little tricky as a wrong combination could cause you to end up looking like trashy. Also looks good with A-line skirts. Not a skirt person? Tuck it into a slim pants/jeans.

3. Thigh-high Boots

Pair this up with a short skirt.. only if you dare! Not ready to go all Mariah or Rihanna with it? Opt for a dress just above the knee to play it down instead.
Those are pretty much the basics of boots - the different sizes of it. Once you’ve got the basics right, feel free to explore. There’s so much more to boots than just this. Ranging from material (leather, suede, velvet, fur) to shapes (pointy toed, round toed) and even styles (laced up, biker look). Hope my two-cents worth helped you take that courageous step out your door in your new pair of boots. All the best!
